Hi, I am Malvern!

Hi, I’m Malvern — a Research Engineer at the Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC) in Singapore.

I hold a Master’s degree in Power Engineering (2024) and a First-Class Honours Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (2021), both from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

My interests lie at the intersection of software development, computation, mobility, and systems engineering. I enjoy building tools that enhance how we live, learn, and work — blending insights from engineering, linguistics, and other domains to solve real-world problems.

Notable projects I've developed include:

- Multi-Application Software (MAS) – A compilation of tools created throughout my academic journey, many of which were designed to tackle tutorial problems efficiently.

- Singapore Public Transport Guide (SPTG) – A mapping tool developed in response to the lack of resources for visualising multiple bus routes on a single map layer.

Both MAS and SPTG are available publicly and free to use.

Outside of work, I have a strong appreciation for languages and music. I’m especially fond of Swedish, Finnish, and Russian music, and have followed Allsång på Skansen religiously since discovering it. I can speak, read, and write in Swedish and Russian at an elementary level — though listening comprehension still challenges me — and I can just about decipher written Finnish (barely). Hyvä!

My all-time favourite artist is Laleh. One recent favourite is Hälften Kvar by Tiger — a song about someone striving to change the world, only to realise the person who changed was himself.
